Limited, the software R&D and distribution flagship of the leading
Linux software provider Thiz Technology Group Limited ("Thiz"
or the "Group"; stock code: 8119), joined hands with Hong
Kong Baptist University ("HKBU") to launch Linux programs
for developing Linux R&D experts through a more comprehensive
and professionally recognized training programs.
In order to promote Linux popularity, Thiz and
HKBU jointly provided a series of free seminars on "The future
Linux development in the PRC and Hong Kong and the Technology and
Applications of Linux". For the aggressive approaches on promoting
Linux training programs, Mr. Kevin Lau, General Manager of the Group,
explained, "Thiz has always worked closely with educational
institutions to promote IT education. In addition to promoting Linux
courses to numerous primary schools and secondary schools, recently,
Thiz extended its IT education plans to tertiary education as an
effort to provide a comprehensive training for people who are aiming
to be IT professionals. The joining of hands between Thiz and HKBU
to offer Linux programs is an evidence of Thiz's authoritative and
reputable position in the education sector that compatible to those
global professionals."
He continued, "In the past few years, Linux
software has grown to become more popular and essential in the PRC,
especially since the PRC Government also began to select Linux over
Microsoft as its software system. Such a trend verified the urgency
and necessity of learning Linux. For SMEs to become successful in
the PRC, the knowledge of Linux will become a necessity for the
new generations."
Consultant of HKBU IT education is the spokesman
for the seminars while the secretary of Asian Linux Association
is the guest speaker. Discussion topics include the global Linux
technology development, the PRC and Hong Kong market trends, the
Thiz Linux Desktop system and the usage, application and technical
know-how of Linux, the open-source software. Two courses, "Thiz
Linux Desktop Administration," and "Thiz Linux System
Administration," will be available first. "Thiz Linux
Network Administration," "Thiz Securities Administration"
and other courses will be launched in the near future.
