Group Limited ("Thiz" or the "Group"; stock
code: 8119) is proud to announce its participation in IT Education
Meeting, organized by the Hong Kong School Zone and sponsored by
the Hong Kong Productivity Council and BeyondCert, held on October
27th, 2001.
In the event, the Group announces the new Linux
training @ School campaign to schools that plans to teach Linux
in school. In the campaign, all required software will be provided.
Technical support and training will also be offered.
Mr. Kevin Lau, General Manager of the Group, said,
"As we will work closely with joined schools to ensure the
quality of the campaign, not more than 20 schools will participate
the campaign in first stage."
The Group provides site license program to all
schools of Hong Kong. Schools joining the program are granted the
rights to use software products, including Linux @ School, Office
applications in Linux and Windows, and secure Linux server. Schools
are free to install all above software in computers of the campus.
In addition, technical support and free upgrade service will be
provided in the package.
Thiz provides high quality products that are flexible
to customize for educational institutions. As compared to other
proprietary software which costs approximately HK$3,000, The Group
also offers office applications, one that is even compatible with
MS Windows, Linux operating system as well as MS Office file format,
at a mere $300.
Institutions can utilize the savings in cost to
invest in other areas instead. Thiz also provides maintenance, training
and after sales services to teachers and students. Students can
be benefit through interesting learning software when they are doing
homework while teachers will have a better record on their students'
learning progress.
Mr. Lau concluded, "Through this campaign,
we aim to promote and raise the awareness of the usage of Linux
software application and further enhance the IT education standard
